The course offers an introduction to virtual reality in artistic practice. Participants will learn about the basic functions of VR headsets, explore issues such as privacy, and collectively experience artistic content in virtual worlds. Practical sessions are complemented by reflection and discussion, helping participants gain an understanding of both the technical and social aspects of immersive technologies.
The course is also suitable for teachers who want to explore new digital learning environments for their lessons.
The Berlin School of VR offers a wide range of courses focused on teaching the basics of virtual reality. The courses are hands-on and include presentations on VR concepts, covering the past, present, and future. Participants learn how to use VR headsets and VR apps, as well as how to connect with other users in VR.
The Berlin School of VR offers VR courses to give people insights into the technology and teach them how to use VR headsets. We believe that a basic understanding of how to navigate virtual worlds in virtual bodies is essential for safely experiencing the early metaverse. Understanding privacy and security settings can help protect against harassment and the unwanted collection of data by app developers and hardware manufacturers. The Berlin School of VR has set itself the goal of playing a key role in teaching virtual reality skills.

People who are curious about virtual reality can sign up for our courses. In recent years, we have worked with cultural institutions, young people in rural areas, artists with disabilities, students, and interdisciplinary groups at conferences. We offer both individual and group courses.
The Berlin School of VR is based in a studio space in Berlin-Neukölln. We work in virtual reality both in person, in a hybrid format, and entirely remotely. Courses are initially held in a physical location with real people who assist participants in using the VR headsets. We currently offer courses in German or English.
In recent years, many people and organizations have reached out to us because they wanted to know what VR is and how to experience it. At the Berlin School of VR, we give interested individuals the opportunity to explore VR technology in a physical space. Through direct, personal interaction, we help them understand the associated hardware and software. By working with a diverse range of people in VR, we also gain insights into how the technology is used and shaped today and in the future.
The Berlin School of VR is a new school in Berlin-Neukölln and a place dedicated to what we’ve been doing since 2017: teaching people how to use virtual reality (VR) technology. We are a group of Berlin-based and international artists, scientists, and virtual reality producers who love working in virtual worlds and are passionate about sharing our knowledge. The Berlin School of VR was founded by media and performance artist Katharina Haverich.
